NDP Education Critic, Carla Beck said the numbers of teachers and education workers now facing the unemployment line due to cuts is on the shoulders of the Saskatchewan Party.
A statement released by the official opposition Tuesday said school divisions across Saskatchewan have announced a total of 280 full-time equivalent jobs have been cut, and more are expected.
Beck said, in her opinion, it shows a callous approach by the party in power.
“The priorities in this budget are really being shown here, in the same budget that we had $100-million in tax cuts for the wealthiest and for the largest corporations in this province,” Beck told reporters on Tuesday at the Saskatchewan Legislature.
Beck added the front line positions will have a long lasting impact on the future of education in this province.
