The Saskatchewan Roughriders are 0-2 on the season with both games coming down to the final play before a verdict was determined.
Justin Medlock’s 28 yard field goal in the second overtime lifted the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to a 43-40 win over the green-and-white in what was the first official CFL game played at the new Mosaic Stadium.
Medlock’s kick came moments after Tyler Crapigna hit the upright on a field goal attempt from 33 yards out.
The game was a wild affair with both Winnipeg quarterback Matt Nichols and his Saskatchewan counterpart Kevin Glenn having big nights.
Nichols threw for 331 yards and four touchdowns including a pair to former Rider Weston Dressler while Glenn had 377 yards and four touchdowns in a losing effort.
Glenn told the media after the game to hang the loss on him because of two interceptions that he threw. In the dressing room, Glenn also walked over to Crapigna’s stall to say the same thing.
The Riders will play the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Mosaic next Saturday night with kickoff starting at 8.
On a side note, the Regina Rams 50/50 jackpot which started at $1o0,000 grew to $554,000. A man from Airdrie, Alberta had the winning number worth $277,000.
