Officials at Evraz Place are looking at the city to spend 1.3 million dollars on upgrades to the Brandt Centre that are needed as the Regina Pats prepare to play host to the 2018 Mastercard Memorial Cup.
A news release from Regina Exhibition Association Limited states the cost of renovations to the building which would include new boards, glass, and lighting along with improvements to the sound system and press box will cost four million dollars.
REAL will pay $1.5 million, while the Memorial Cup Committee will contribute $1.23 million with the city being asked to cover the remainder.
The renovations are needed to ensure the building meets the standards outlined by the Canadian Hockey League.
