The City of Regina says they have found the first case of Dutch Elm Disease in 2017 in the north end of the city.
The infected tree is located on Wells Street on the 200 block.
The city said they will be removing the tree immediately to prevent the spread of the disease.
Since 1981 the city has lost only 94 trees to the disease, an average of three to five a year.
Residents are encouraged to call the city if they see a tree they believe is infected.
