The Regina Red Sox rode an early 6-0 lead to a 9-1 victory over the visiting Yorkton Cardinals.
The Eastern Division Leading Red Sox sent Taft Community College sophomore Will Moore to the mound.
Moore, the winning pitcher, threw 4.2 innings allowing just one run on five hits and four walks before Manager MacDonald went to the bullpen.
Preston Minor, local product Kendal Daniels, Justin Magstadt and Kevin Borst all pitched in relief.
Justin Johnson started for the Cardinals and suffered the loss. He lasted five innings giving up seven runs on eight hits.
Walker McCleney was one of the offensive bright spot pounding a home run over the right field wall in the third inning. Hank Forest also added three hits for the Cardinals.
Antonio Torres’ homer in the bottom of the seventh brought the 608 fans at Currie Filed to their feet. It was the first WMBL home run for Torres. The speedy Justin Earlandson, from Utah valley, chipped in with a double and a triple in the Red Sox win.
At the end of the night, Regina improved to 17-8 and Yorkton dropped to 7-18.
Regina is back on the field Wednesday as they host Moose Jaw. First pitch is at 7 pm.
