Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall says he is stuck in a state of disbelief over the settlement paid out to Omar Khadr.
Wall tells 620 CKRM it is beyond the pale that the Trudeau Government rammed through the payment, on top of the apology to the former child soldier and Guantanamo Bay detainee, essentially freezing out the family of the soldier he killed.
“I can’t help but think Canadian veterans of that conflict, what are they thinking today,” he asked
“It’s unbelievable that they would move quickly to the settlement, to basically cut out the widow of the Medic, of the U.S soldier he killed,” he added.
In Ottawa Friday, Public Safety Minister MP Ralph Goodale issued the following statement, “On behalf of the government of Canada, we wish to apologize to Mr. Khadr for any role Canadian officials may have played in relation to his ordeal abroad and any resulting harm,” he said.
