The University of Regina will be making some big changes come the fall.
Beginning September 1, smoking and the use of tobacco products will not be allowed in or around any U of R buildings.
There will be fewer designated smoking areas and smokers will not be allowed to light up inside their cars, if they’re parked on campus.
Darren Cherwaty, the Director Health, Safety and Wellness with the University of Regina, said it’s part of the movement towards becoming a smoke-free campus.
“We will still have three designated smoking areas on campus, but the University of Regina is committed to the safety and the health of those who work, visit and study here on our campus and those who are visiting ur campus as well,” Cherwaty said.
Cherwaty added smokers will be given help to quit – if they so choose.
