Despite the blistering hot summer days blanketing southern Saskatchewan, SaskPower says they aren’t seeing a spike in usage due to air conditioning.
Spokesperson Jonathan Tremblay told 620 CKRM year over year from this time last year, we are about average, and well below the usual spike seen in the winter.
“We haven’t seen the same extreme peaks that we saw last year at this time, and we’re still far far short of our January peak, our winter peaks are always much higher with the extreme cold,” Tremblay said.
- Heat to intensify in southern Sask. as high pressure system stalls over the province
- Rain, hail, high winds batter Saskatoon; more unsettled weather forecast for southern & central Sask.
Tremblay added they’re currently at about 60 per cent capacity on the grid.
