The Weyburn Beavers outscored the Regina Red Sox 10-9 for their 18th win of the season.
Even with the loss Regina remained in first place in the Eastern Division but dropped to 20-10 on the season.
The Beaver offence was led by Spring Hill College speedster Ulysses Fluellen who had three hits including a standup double and a RBI. Anthony Wiggins also was a force at the plate. He was three for four with three runs, a RBI and a walk.
Regina’s Justin Erlandson had four hits and a stolen base in the loss. His two doubles gave him 13 on the year. Other offensive stars for the Sox were Aden Campbell who smacked a home run in the first inning and Phil Langlois, the Victoriaville, QC native was 3 for 5 on the night
Weyburn starter Garrett Waters, gave up 14 hits and six runs while grabbing the victory. Cody Pamperin earned his second save of the 2017 campaign with 1.1 innings of stellar work.
Will Moore from Taft Community College made his sixth start for the Red Sox. Moore gave up four runs on seven hits and five walks. He also struck out two Weyburn batters. Preston Minor came in from the bullpen to make his 19th appearance of the season in the sixth inning. Newcomer Chase Boone made his WMBL debut in the seventh inning and was handed the loss.
The same two teams will battle again on Tuesday. Game time at Currie Field is 7pm.
