Those hoping to have their favourite craft beer at Mosaic Stadium this year are out of luck.
After months of talks between the Saskatchewan Craft Beer Association, the city of Regina, the Riders and Evraz Place, a release was sent out late Wednesday afternoon saying no agreement could be reached allowing for craft beer to be sold at Rider games and other events in the facility.
In a statement, SCBA president Kari Stenson says options were presented by both sides, but an agreement could not be made because of commercial pouring arrangements already in place and that this will come as a disappointment to both their membership and Saskatchewan’s passionate craft beer enthusiasts.
In 2013, the city granted sponsorship rights to the football team with those rights including exclusive pouring rights. A contract was made with Molson Coors meaning only Molson products are sold at this time at the stadium.
Stenson adds it is their hope to continue discussions so craft beer can be sold in the stadium starting in 2018.
The association has 13 breweries as members including Rebellion, District Brewing Company, Bushwakker and BlackBridge brewery.
