SaskEnergy has applied for a 2.3-percent delivery increase effective November 1.
The utility company applied to the Saskatchewan Rate Review panel to increase delivery charges – which would be a $1.65 increase on your monthly bill.
Ken From is the President and CEO of SaskEnergy.
He says there is plenty of reasons why SaskEnergy needs to go ahead with rate increases adding the utility is moving 50-percent more gas energy than it did in 2009.
“Along with that comes more pipelines,” From said. “There is more maintenance required for this pipelines. And cities are expanding and when that happens, they want natural gas. We’ve got to provide that natural gas in a way that does not hinder the development of those cities and towns.”
The Saskatchewan Rate Review Panel will review this rate application from SaskEnergy.
