SaskPower is the latest crown to release its yearly report, and it shows a profit of 46 million dollars which is a decrease of 64 million from the year previous.
The report also shows SaskPower invested $886 million in the province’s electricity system over the past year.
President and CEO Mike Marsh says despite the numbers, Saskatchewan citizens may be soon paying more for electricity, but that any increase would be moderate in size.
The report also shows natural gas produces 40 percent of the province’s power with coal providing 32 percent, hydro at 20 percent and wind for 5.
Marsh says “ SaskPower will continue to find ways to work more efficiently and effectively so we can fulfill our mission of ensuring reliable, sustainable and cost-effective power for our customers and the communities we serve.”
