Regina Police have now confirmed Tuesday morning’s fatal accident involving a pedestrian on Winnipeg Street was a hit and run.
Officers were called around 8:00 a.m. Tuesday morning to Winnipeg Street between 11th and 12th Avenues.
People in the area reported seeing a man’s body lying on the roadway.
The victim is a 50-year-old man from Ontario, however police say his name will not be released at this time.
Police seized an abandoned truck nearby the scene yesterday they believe was involved, but the investigation is on-going.
Chief Evan Bray told 620 CKRM the investigation is progressing well.
“Some good work was done yesterday, at this point we still don’t have the driver in our custody, but we’ve made some really good strides in understanding who that person is. I’m pretty confident that within the next week we’ll be able to come out with some more information,” said Bray.
Anyone with information is asked to call Regina Police or Crime Stoppers.
