I came to a realization this week as I was preparing for my on location broadcast this Saturday (July 22) in Kennedy for the 85th Annual Moose Mountain Pro Rodeo. I realized all my clothes are old and nearly wore out thanks to years of avoiding shopping at all costs. Shopping and Cody are two things that just don’t mix well (unless it’s for food!)
Upon telling friends that a dreaded trip to the clothing department was imminent, a debate broke out on something I hadn’t even considered. The topic? Should one wash pants and/or shirts after buying them or is it perfectly alright to get home from the store, rip off the stickers and tags and wear those new clothes after purchase?
I’ve always chosen the latter, mostly because I don’t feel like doing laundry especially for just one or two pairs of pants. It’s a laziness thing, and I have no problem admitting to that. I’d sooner write about it rather than walk the 50 feet to the laundry room, get the detergent, open the lid and shove the clothes in. It give me chills just thinking about it! Is there proper procedure? Should one wash new clothes right away or is it fine to just wear them right away?
