Many in Saskatchewan spend July on the lake, whether it be on the beach or on the boat, but while fun is always wanted, the government, along with a provincial advocate want safety to still remain top of mind.
To help recognize the dangers that go with water, the province along with the Lifesaving Society marked this past week as Drowning Prevention Week.
Shelby Rushton, Lifesaving Society CEO said life jackets are vital for boaters at any time.
” They’re so easy to put on nowadays, they’re quite comfortable, they’re quite fashionable,” she said.
“They take 20 seconds to put on, and they might save your life,” she added.
Rushton also says there is zero tolerance for boating while impaired, as that can also result in tragedy.
