Once again, a Regina group is making sure kids are getting a proper lunch during the summer months that they might not normally get.
Regina Education and Action on Child Hunger or REACH has partnered with PotashCorp for the “Reach Into the Parks” program which sees Regina kids getting a healthy lunch.
Dana Folkerson is the Executive Director of REACH and says while the lunches are available across the city, there is one target area.
“Those site, a majority of them, are in low-income neighbourhoods,” said Folkerson. “They would traditionally have a breakfast, lunch or supper program. available. But during the summer, those programs aren’t available for the kids.
The lunches include a sandwich with home roasted meats, cheese and a fresh fruit or vegetable. There are special lunches available as well for kids with needs such as gluten-free and vegeterian.
