With the temperatures set to soar into the mid-30s for the next week or so, SaskPower is gearing up for residents around the province to crank up their air conditioners.
Jonathan Tremblay, spokesperson for SaskPower says they reached about 70 per cent capacity during the last heat wave and expects around the same this time around.
“On our end it certainly means more people using more power,” he said
“We’re certainly anticipating more people using more power on the weekend, so we’ll compensate accordingly and we should be absolutely fine to provide power,” he added.
Tremblay adds weekday evenings are usually the biggest strain on the grid, with businesses still open, and families getting home and flipping on the AC.
