The city’s crack sealing program will begin Tuesday.
The program is aimed to extend the life of the roadway, and is usually apllied to roads paved within the last two to five years.
The city’s director of roadways is Norman Kyle. He says despite the heat and bright sun, this is the right time of year to do something like this.
“It’s important to seal the cracks before moisture gets in, “Kyle said. “It causes soft spots on the road and contributes to frost-heave in the fall and winter.”
The program will begin on the Ring Road starting at Pasqua Street, and moving south in phases to Dewdney Avenue.
Work will happen between 7 PM and 6 AM to minimize traffic disruptions.
