After being locked out for the past 11 weeks and without a contract since early 2014, workers at Variety Place care home in Outlook now have both.
Returning to work on Sunday, employees now have a new deal that will take them to 2018.
Barbera Cape, President of SEIU West says after negotiations the deal reached was a fair one.
“You know, I think it was probably the best compromise,” Cape told 620 CKRM news. “With any set of negotiations you don’t get everything you want on either side. That’s why I say I think this was the best compromise.”
Cape says the deal addresses lots of outstanding pieces around monetary pieces.
Members will see a general wage increase that will take them to around 18 dollars an hour.
