Monday afternoon I was making my way home after running some errands and pulled up to the intersection of Pasqua and 4th, which had been closed for a few days for the city crews to do some work on the lights before school gets back in. The road was now open, but there were no lights up yet. The intersection was working on a 3-way stop for the time being. Pasqua, heading south, was barricaded so no traffic could go through.
Well, as I rolled up to the intersection, there was a car that had pulled up behind the barricades and wanted to get out on to 4th Avenue. The guy was driving a beat up old car and had a kid jumping around the front seat. Barricades weren’t going to stop this guy. He simply got out of his car, pushed a barricade to the side, and turned on to 4th Avenue. Hey pal, barricades are there for a reason. Didn’t you notice the darn things when you were a block away and could have easily turned and went around the block? There’s a good lesson to teach that young kid who was sitting in the front seat. Rules be damned!
Hey, everyone is getting frustrated with the road construction that’s going on, I get it, but let’s not start moving stuff around and making it dangerous for other drivers who do follow the rules.
