The midway opened at noon on Wednesday and the Queen City Ex is now in full swing at Evraz Place in Regina.
Whether it’s the Sling Shot on the midway, the new Dragon Roller Coaster in Kiddyland or the Pterodactyl Wing for lunch, there’s something for the whole family.
Scooter, with North American Midway Entertainment said they have 47 great rides to try out.
“We brought back some of the old classics such as the Polar Express, if you want to go faster of course the crazy most roller coaster, and of course the ever popular Flume Ride. We got a great family line in Kiddyland, we also brought in the new Dragon Coaster in June this year and it’s been really popular,” Scooter said.
For the first time this year the ever popular Zipper will not be available , Scooter said it was retired due to safety reasons.
“We’ve decided that we’ve retired the Zipper, and you know I’m going to tell you western Canada just wore it out, we weren’t feeling comfortable with the Zipper and safety is paramount with everything we do at North American Midway Entertainment. We were just feeling a little bit less comfortable with it so we decided to leave it at home,” Scooter told reporters.
On the food and entertainment side of things, 20 new food vendors are open this year.
Adventurous people can try out deep fried chicken feet, there is also a 40-inch sausage for 40 bucks, the pterodactyl wing or a toasted marshmallow milkshake to name a few.
Chelsea Galloway, Manager, Entertainment and Events said the main stage in the Brandt Centre will also be a popular place to be.
“Every night we have new entertainment on our grandstand in the Brandt Centre, starting off Wednesday night we have Gord Bamford who’s going to take the stage, tomorrow (Thursday) night we have July Talk, Friday night co-headliners the Watchmen and I Mother Earth, on Saturday night Ruth B and then on Sunday night, Brett Kissel is going to close out the stage,” Galloway said.
The midway is open until midnight each night.
