For anybody obsessed with trains, Wednesday evening was the best night ever! The CP Canada 150 train is travelling across this great country and stopping at cities and towns along the way. Yesterday it was Regina’s turn. A large crowd was on hand across from Old Mosaic Stadium to hear Kelly Prescott (descendant from the legendary Family Brown), First Nations hoop dancer Dallas Arcand and Canadian country music star Dean Brody.
The train started July 28th in Port Moody, BC and is travelling east across Canada. More than 10 cars are part of the train which are pulled by F-Unit diesel CP locomotives from 1958.
There is a certain magic trains still bring to people. Last night every age was there. I noticed Grandpas taking their grandkids to the train, Grandmas dancing with their granddaughters to the music, young couples, old couples, soon to be moms and dads and families of every culture took in the event. Like it did 150 years ago, the train is still binding our communities and country together.
Below are a few pictures from the evening.
