Builders or renovators have a new way to schedule building inspections in Regina. It’s been underway for about a week now, and builders can now book an inspector to come to their project.
Michelle Lavallee is the Manager of Building Standards for the City of Regina.
She says this move will increase efficiency and improve customer service for builders who need to move forward with their project. Lavallee says this will give builders a chance to plan ahead.
She says the contractor is responsible for ensuring all these steps are taken, adding the city is moving to try and help that process.
“With this new process, it places the responsibility on the owner or the builder to schedule their inspection,” Lavallee said. “That way, the project can proceed on schedule.”
Lavallee says certain inspections have slotted times which will be confirmed the day of the inspection.
“It is the responsibility of the property owner to ensure the inspections are complete at the appropriate times of construction,” Lavallee said. “If it’s not done, the inspector can require that part that needs to be inspected to be exposed so the inspection can be properly carried out.”
She says certain inspections have slotted times which will be confirmed the day of the inspection.
“When they call to Service Regina, they will be given an A.M. or P.M. time frame,” Lavallee said. “Then the inspector will call back that morning of the scheduled inspection day, between 8:00 and 8:30, and they will confirm the time.”
Lavallee says it is the responsibility of the contractor and the landowner to ensure a permit is required and taken out.
