One week after putting in a listless effort in Vancouver where they were beaten by 15 points in a score that flattered the Saskatchewan Roughriders, there was a complete role reversal at Mosaic Stadium Sunday night.
Thanks to huge efforts from Kevin Glenn and Ed Gainey, the Riders crushed the Lions 41-8 for their 3rd victory of the season against four losses and perhaps more importantly winning the season series against their Western foes.
Glenn threw for 320 yards and three touchdowns while Gainey intercepted 4 passes which is something no Rider has done while also contributing with a fumble recovery. One of the interceptions was returned 49 yards for a touchdown to put the green-and-white in control as it came moments after a Bakari Grant TD to give the team an 8-0 lead.
The Riders now take their second bye week of the season. They will return to the field for game action on August 25 against the Edmonton Eskimos.
