While it would have to be considered a longshot if a joint bid by Canada, Mexico and the United States to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup was successful, there could be some games played in Regina.
Regina is one of 44 cities in the three countries being considered as a host venue for the event.
Mosaic Stadium is one of nine Canadian stadiums being considered with others including B.C Place in Vancouver, Edmonton’s Commonwealth Stadium and Toronto’s BMO Field.
Requests for information have been sent to all cities with a declaration of interest being asked for. That declaration is to be made before September 5.
With expansion, Mosaic Stadium could seat 40000 people which would be the minimum for a game in the group stage.
