Yesterday was a momentous day for me. We all have those big moments in our lives such as getting our driver’s licence, graduating from high school and university, buying that first house, getting married, and……getting cable!
Well, I’m not sure getting cable is as big of a deal as it once was thanks to services like Netflix and Crave TV, but considering I’ve NEVER had cable in my life, it’s a big deal! I’ve always watched TV via rabbit ears, but those days are behind us now and one doesn’t get much over the rabbit ears anymore.
I attempted to hook up the cable on my own, but after a mess of cords everywhere, no picture, and a little cussing, I decided to call the cable guy and before I knew it I was partaking in that great Canadian tradition of “waiting for the cable guy.” I’ve never had to do that before. I cleaned up the house, washed the dishes, and wondered if I should serve something when he or she got there! It took 5 minutes and the cable was hooked up. Grrrr.
So I spent the rest of the day catching up on all the education shows like Jerry Springer, Judge Judy and Maury (his paternity tests indicate a lot of new and reluctant new dad’s out there now). I quickly learned that the guide is probably going to be the most watched channel I have, followed closely by the cartoon channel. By the way, does anybody know when the next Sponge Bob Square Pants marathon will be?
No more watching news and shows on a cellphone or on my ancient laptop computer. A friend of mine stated “welcome to 2017!” I’d say I’m at 2013 at this point, but as I evolve I’ll keep you updated. I predict I’ll fully reach 2017 technologies and comforts by 2021.
