Saskatchewan’s justice minister has put his name in the hat for the Saskatchewan Party leadership.
Gord Wyant believes his experience not just as Justice Minister, but as Minister responsible for Crown Corporations, and previous roles in municipal government will give him an advantage in the party leadership race to replace Premier Brad Wall.
Wyant says he plans to head to every constituency and speak to people to find out what matters to them before crafting his platform, but hinted after his announcement Friday that one area he may focus on is reducing the cuts to health and education made in the last provincial budget.
Wyant joins Jeremy Harrison and Tina Beaudry-Mellor as the three current candidates to replace Wall, who has been party leader since 2004.
Saskatchewan Party members will vote in the next leader for their party January 27th in Saskatoon.
