The city of Regina has removed around 26 wasp nests from public property so far this year.
Russell Eirich the city’s Manager of Forestry Horticulture and Pest Control says he expects them to be right on par with other years for nest removal.
Eirich is also telling residents that there is not more wasps then usual and it’s normal to see more flying around this time of year.
He says the wasps are more aggressive in trying to find food to support larger nests.
Eirich says residents are encouraged to call 777-7000 if they see a wasp nest on city property.
Residents that have wasp nests on their own property are asked to contact a private pest control company or destroy the nest themselves.
