The Roughriders return to practice Wednesday preparing to host Winnipeg in Sunday’s Labour Day Classic.
The team is 3-and-1 at home this year and Head Coach Chris Jones tells the 620 CKRM’s The SportsCage, Rider fans have made New Mosaic Stadium a very tough place for visiting teams.
“When we play at home, it’s just like a playoff game every week,” Jones said. “And the energy is just outstanding.”
Jones says although the team is on a 3-game home win streak, Winnipeg earned that win back on Canada Day.
“You’ve got to give them credit,” Jones told Rod Pederson on 620 CKRM’s Sportscage. “They found the guys that were open. And you know, some teams, they find the guy that is open and throw the ball over their heads. But unfortunately, when you make mistakes against a good football team, they make you pay for it.”
The Riders host the Bombers Sunday at 2:00 on the Cooperators Rider Radio Network.
