Rarely has a Labour Day Classic meant so much.
The Roughriders look for their third straight win on Sunday against a Winnipeg team who comes in as the winners of five games in a row.
Rider Coach Chris Jones says it’s a big test for his football club because this game is the highlight to the regular season. Jones says Winnipeg is a well-coached team which always puts points up on the board.
Lineman Brendon Labatte – who’s spent his entire career between the Riders and Bombers says this game feels like it’s the most important – for the teams and the fans.
“Yeah. I think it’s a lot to do with the rivalry,” Labatte said. “Obviously the province has got a long history of it. I think that definitely carries it over.”
The Riders host the Bombers Sunday at 2:00 on the Cooperators Rider Radio Network.
