Marty Klyne, the Chief Executive Officer of the RCMP Heritage Centre says ScotiaBank donated 45-thousand dollars for the program – which will go a long way.
“Pledge for Peace program is a very unique educational program that we’ve been conducting at the RCMP Heritage Centre,” Klyne said. “It’s aimed at students, grades 2 to 8. And it is centred on peace and peace keeping.”
Klyne says the gift is timely in order to help make a positive impact on youth regarding the role police play in Canada. He says kids in grades 2 to 8 need to have this conversation.
“I think it’s significant that youth view the police to be there to help,” Klyne said. “Today’s environment which is seemingly increased activity and demonstrations, rallies and protests, it’s quite timely to try to make a positive impact on them in terms of peace and peace keeping. Certainly the role that police play in Canada.”
The Heritage Centre recently observed its tenth Anniversary and will soon announce the installation of two new high-tech exhibits.
