The Regina Police has been called in to conduct an independent, external investigation into a sudden death at the Indian Head RCMP Detachment cell area.
According to a news release from the RCMP, a 46-year old woman died in a cell on Saturday.
Apparently, First Responders were called to the cell, but the woman was pronounced dead Saturday afternoon at the Indian Head Hospital.
As is RCMP policy, the mounties have called in a outside body to investigate.
The Regina Police Service will report the results of their investigation to the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General.
In addition to the independent external investigation, the RCMP has requested the Ministry of Justice appoint an Independent Observer.
