The province of Saskatchewan says thousands of infrastructure projects could get additional funding this fiscal year thanks to the first installment of the Federal Gas Tax Fund.
In July Canada delivered 29.5-million dollars to the province, who then distributed the money to communities around the province on a per-capita basis.
Keith Comstock with Government Relations says the funding project is one of the most flexible there is for municipalities.
“This program is one of the more flexible programs we’ve been involved in,” Comstock said. “Communities really do have a great deal of latitude and a variety of programs and projects they can undertake. There are 18 different project-categories they can apply for.”
Comstock says for 2017-18 Regina receives 11.5-million dollars, and Saskatoon just over 13.2-million.
A total of 59.1-million will be given to the province after the second installment.
