I’d like to think that I have an open mind when it comes to food. I enjoy trying different kinds of foods and dishes, however there are certain limitations to how far I’ll go. For example, I don’t think someone could talk me into eating insects. They would have to be one heck of a salesperson to convince me to dive into a plate of bugs. I’m currently thinking of the weird food scene in the movie “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom!”
A grocery store in Switzerland has started selling “bug burgers” and “bug balls.” As the names suggest, they are made almost entirely of insects. Many eat these “burgers” as one would eat any burger, with cheese, lettuce and tomatoes on a fresh bun. According to a store representative the bug food is selling very well.
I’m curious to know if this is just a fad or if this is here to stick around. If it’s just a fad, imagine telling that to your kids and grandkids! “Kids, back in my day people used to eat burgers made entirely of insects.” Something tells me you’d get an odd look.
The question is, would you ever try a burger made entirely of bugs?
