For National Police and Peace Officers Memorial day, police throughout Saskatchewan held a memorial ceremony in front of the Legislature on Sunday.
At the memorial, all 62 officers from Saskatchewan who lost their lives in the line of duty were recognized with their names being read.
In attendance was the family of Cst. Derek Pineo, who lost his life in the line of duty in 2012.
Also in attendance was Lieutenant Governor Vaughn Solomon Schofield, who addressed officers in attendance during the beginning of the ceremony.
The memorial service capped off the second annual Ride to Remember, which saw peace officers ride their bikes for two days, traveling from Prince Albert to Regina.
National Police and Peace Officers Memorial day was established in 1998, and takes place on the last Sunday of September every year.
