SGI’s traffic safety focus spotlight for October will once again shine on distracted driving.
The insurance company’s Tyler McMurchy said it’s an issue that won’t go away.
“I am not prepared to say it’s getting better, in fact over the last couple of years we’ve seen the number of collisions, injuries and fatalities increase across the board when it comes to distracted driving,” McMurchy said.
The fine for distracted driving is $280, and four demerit points.
Last year, 42 people died, 1,200 people were injured, in 8,300 collisions in the province due to distracted driving.
