Well, the signs that Halloween is just about upon us are everywhere. It’s still 27 days away, but that doesn’t mean people aren’t getting prepared already.
The other day at No Frills I noticed that Amber already has a huge bin of pumpkins available for those who want to get a jump on their Jack O ‘Lanterns or homemade pumpkin pies. The boxes of mini chocolate bars and other candies have already been out for weeks. Usually I go through a box of those darn things a week before Halloween even arrives. This year I’ve actually showed some restraint by not buying any…yet.
There is a house on my way to work that is fully decked out for Halloween. This house has more decorations than most houses put up for Christmas! These people take their Halloween very seriously. There are at least 4 inflatable Halloween decorations at this house, not to mention everything else they have set up, including lights. I don’t even put lights up for Christmas, for goodness sakes!
Thanksgiving is just over a week away, but you’ll never see a house decorated for that. Can you even buy an inflatable pilgrim or an inflatable turkey out there anywhere? If so, I’ve never seen them. How about setting up a miniature Mayflower on your front lawn? All aboard!
Maybe we’ll just forgo Halloween this year and combine it with Thanksgiving and get them both out of the way in one day. Anyone up for a turkey stuffed with chocolate bars and candy?
