An end of an era has come for the Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region.
As the helth region prepares to be merged into one health authority, RQHR’s President and CEO had his last day at work last week.
Keith Dewar says a lot was done during his five-year tenure.
“One of the tasks I had when I came here five years ago was help to re-establish the Regina Qu’Appelle in terms of how much it contributed to the continued improvement of health care in the Province,” Dewar says. “I think we’ve done a good job of that, not just myself but the entire organization. A lot of the work going forward with the new Saskatchwewan Health Authority will build on our work here.”
Dewar says the involvement of patients and the family of patients has been revolutionary since his tenure began.
“I think the most satisfying thing overall is how we continue to improve our engagement of the people we serve. The patients, the families, the residents, the clients, depending what part of our system, how they’re much more actively involved in our proof work now than they were when I started. That was a Provincial initiative, we just worked with them on that.”
The Saskatchewan Health Authority is on pace to launch December 4th of this year.
