Regina Police are asking people to stay away from the 1100 block of Elphinstone Street while they investigate a firearms incident Monday afternoon.
A Regina Police spokesperson says no one has been injured in the incident, but they do believe shots were fired around 10:30 a.m.
Police initially responded to the incident around 6:00 a.m. Monday morning.
There are several units currently investigating, while at least four nearby schools have been placed in “secure the building mode,” Seven Stones, Albert, Kitchener, Sacred Heart and Scott Collegiate.
Regina Public says elementary students will only be allowed to leave those schools if a parent or guardian picks them up on Monday afternoon.
Students from Scott Collegiate have been allowed to leave if they do not live in the police blocked off area and have a safe plan to get home.
620 CKRM’s Ryan McNally is on the scene, and says SWAT members and negotiators are speaking with occupants of a residence.
Police have not fired any shots, but are using less lethal actions to try and force the occupants outside of the home.
We’ll have more details on this once they’re available.
