The official opening of the Allan Blakeney Adult Campus was celebrated in Regina on Tuesday
Education Minister Bronwyn Eyre Premier Brad Wall and Regina Public School’s board Chair Katherine Gagne were all on hand for the opening.
Wall says naming the campus after a former Premier is a great way to create a lasting legacy.
“I think we should honour those who served as Premier in this province, and I think we should honour our history. Premier Blakeney played a huge role in the history of Saskatchewan.”
Premier Wall says Blakeney had a lasting impact while he was in office.
“You hear Premier Romanow reference the constitutional discussion that led to Canada’s constitution, Premier Blakeney played a key role in that. He stood up to the Trudeau Federal Government of the day on the National Energy Program.”
Blakeney’s widow Anne Blakeney was also on hand for the celebration.
Allan Blakeney was Saskatchewan’s Premier from 1971 to 1982.
