The Premier is being accused by the NDP of backing off a promise to repeal Bill 40, legislation allowing partial sale of crown corporations.
The NDP says Wall is only repealing a portion of Bill 40, and will permit the winding down of crowns like STC.
Premier Wall says Bill 40 is a miscellaneous statues act and he will repeal the legislation on partial sell-off of the crowns.
The NDP is pledging to restore STC but Wall said it would not be a good idea.
“At a $100 per-passenger subsidy, we don’t think that’s the appropriate use of public funds going forward. So we disagree with them on that front, but as for the Crown cooperation’s, no stake in the Crown Cooperation’s are subject to sale or partnership going forward,” Wall said during question period on Monday.
On the weekend, the NDP provincial convention passed resolutions calling for restoration of STC.
