What a fun a weekend it was, aside from getting my truck broke into. I had the great fortune of talking with, and introducing, a Canadian country music legend at Casino Regina Saturday evening.
Carroll Baker has made a living telling stories through her music and people loved it. A nearly sold out show heard many of her hits through the decades and that’s a lot of songs! She has over 20 number one records, 12 of which were consecutive number one’s here in Canada. She was the first Canadian country singer to be certified gold record status and she’s even a member of the Order of Canada, or nation’s highest honour. No wonder they call her Canada’s First Lady of Country Music!
Prior to her show Saturday evening, I had the chance to speak with her and her husband backstage. They are two of the most down to the Earth people I have ever met. We talked about a number of things including the tour, which she reports was very good. Regina was their last stop before heading back home.
Thank you, Carroll, for over 40 years of making music and for being one of Canada’s music gems.
