The Saskatchewan Roughriders first playoff appearance in three years will be as a crossover team into the east, after a 28-13 defeat at the hands of the Edmonton Eskimos on a snowy Saturday night at new Mosaic.
Kevin Glenn and Brandon Bridge felt pressure from the Eskimos D-line all night, while Mike Reilly was able to notch three TD’S for Edmonton.
Marcus Thigpen stepped in to the backfield and recorded one TD for the Riders on seven carries, he also had one kickoff return good for 53 yards.
Kevin Glenn once again started the game going 5/10 before being replaced by Brandon Bridge who was 12/18 with one TD.
The injury bug also bit the Riders again, as guard Brendon Labatte was helped off the field with what appeared to be a lower body injury and eventually taken to the locker room on the back of a cart, his status for next week is still unknown.
The loss gives the Riders a regular season finish of 10-8 and fourth spot in the west, they’ll play either Toronto or Ottawa in the eastern semi-final next week.
A Toronto loss in B.C Saturday night means a date with the Argo’s, a Toronto win however sets up a night in Ottawa.
