A speech by Canada’s new Governor-General has drawn the ire of Saskatchewan’s premier.
Earlier this month, Julie Payette made statements about that some say mocked people of faith, while praising Canada’s tolerance and freedom of religion.
On Thursday, Brad Wall sent a letter to Payette in which he advises her to think again about speaking down to people who have spiritual and religious beliefs saying the comments made did not meet the standard of conduct that comes with your position.
Today, I sent a letter to Her Excellency @GGJuliePayette expressing concern over recent comments mocking the religious beliefs of millions of Canadians.
She will always be welcome in Saskatchewan, but I ask that respect be given to all our peoples, including those of faith. pic.twitter.com/dH3OzspAnF
