The Saskatchewan Roughriders put in perhaps their most dominating effort of the season on Sunday in Ottawa as they defeated the REDBLACKS 31-20 on Sunday afternoon to become one game away from being back on the field at TD Place in two weeks for the 105th Grey Cup.
The story of this game for the Riders was the play of Marcus Thigpen and Kevin Glenn. Thigpen broke the game open in the 3rd quarter when he took a handoff and ran 75 yards for a touchdown to make it 31-14. In all, Thigpen had 169 yards rushing
As for Glenn, he went 18 of 28 for 252 yards with one touchdown while running for another.
The Riders defence also came through as Sam Eguavoen had a 1st quarter interception deep in Saskatchewan territory in what could have been the biggest play of the football game as both teams marched up and down the field with the interception happening with the score being 14-8 Riders.
The green-and-white will now head to Toronto for the CFL East final next Sunday afternoon as they try to become the first of 10 Western teams to cross over and play in the East Division playoffs to advance to the Grey Cup.
Game time next Sunday from BMO Field will be noon with our pre-game starting at 9 AM.
