Wednesday is the deadline for Saskatchewan farmers to file post-harvest claims for crop loss through crop insurance.
Sean Jacques is the president of the Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation, so far, he says there are over five thousand crop damage claims.
“Well to date we have about 5,800 claims registered,” Jacques told 620 CKRM. “We’ll get a few more over the coming days leading up to the deadline, but so far we have about 5,800 registered,” Jacques continued.
Jacques said many of the claims are related to extremely dry weather in southern Saskatchewan.
He added that Wednesday is also the deadline for farmers to file their 2017 crop production declaration forms.
