Tuesday I was in the Doc’s office! I know, I could hardly believe it. How could I get in so quick in the midst of Cold and Flu season. My doctor is new, so she’s got some openings – that’s my thought.
About six weeks ago, if not longer, I had blood work done, but I didn’t book a physical – we’ve been kind of busy. At the time, she only took the lengthier physical appointment up until 10am!
I thought I would be in and out – a quick look at my throat with its piercing burn and the congestion in my chest. But her first order of business was looking at my blood results. Which while surprising, was appreciated.
There have been a few things that have been bothering me, but I put it down to being 55 years old and the reality that the body is changing. Of course there are ways to stave off the aging process! I don’t smoke, any drinks I’m consuming are considered very social, at best! I’m not a gym rat, but probably should start leaning that way considering the one glaring thing we talked about.
Apparently, it is in the creepin’ range, my term not the doctor’s. What I mean by this is, the number is at the low end of the scale in which one must use medication to assist them in maintenance of their cholesterol.
Now, I didn’t think I ate that much red meat! I like baked goods. This is what needs to change. Paying attention to diet benefits in so many way, plus exercise. I’ve been trying to lose weight over the last couple of years, simply, I’m not working on it hard enough.
The good news is, the cholesterol is manageable by diet and actually visiting the gym or putting in a few more thousand steps!
Next step, the physical! Oh and as for the cold – gargle with salt water, take Advil, sleep and drink lots of water. Wash Your Hands!
