It was an exciting Friday afternoon for many families.
The federal and provincial government opened a new affordable family housing facility on Dewdney Avenue.
The facility, which can hold up to 14 families, is supported by Foxvalley Counselling and Silver Sage Holdings.
Silver Sage Board Chair Edmund Bellegarde says this facility is a step towards meeting the safe, affordable housing needs many Indigenous families have.
“Housing is a critical aspect to quality of life for any individual, so, this combines that with our counselling efforts and innovative approach to helping children and families heal.”
On behalf of the city, Mayor Michael Fougere is pleased with the facility, saying “there’s nothing more important than having safe affordable housing.”
