Distracted driving was SGI’s October Traffic Safety focus, and of the 486 tickets handed out, 391 were for cell-phone use.
SGI’s Tyler McMurchy says police across the province were also handing out tickets for other infractions.
“4300 tickets nearly for either speeding or aggressive driving, we had 310 impaired driving offences, including 255 criminal code charges.”
There were also just over 320 tickets handed out for seatbelt or child restraint infractions.
November’s traffic safety focus is suspended drivers and unregistered vehicles.
