Saskatchewan has a new emblem formally referred to now as the Provincial Fossil.
Scotty the T.rex fossil is a 65-million year-old T.rex skeleton – the first found in Saskatchewan, discovered in 1991 in southwestern Saskatchewan.
Gene Makowsky, minister of parks, culture of sport, says other provinces and states have a fossil as an emblem.
“Several jurisdictions in North America have a provincial emblem as a former dinosaur of fossil, and so we have a great history of that, so this is just a chance, by doing this (Wednesday), to highlight that.”
Scotty received over 35 per-cent of the vote.
More than 14,000 votes were cast.
